BENEFITS OF GITTLESON SHRUG

The Gittleson shrug is a unique variation of the dumbbell shrug exercise aimed at strengthening the trapezius muscles. What sets it apart is its focus on isolating and contracting the upper trapezius muscle in a specific way.

Here's how it works: As you perform the Gittleson shrug, you deliberately let one side of your shoulder with the weight drop down as far as it can go. This action creates a stretch on your left upper trapezius muscle. Simultaneously, due to the angle you're leaning, your right upper trapezius muscle engages in an intense isometric contraction. While it might seem like a one-sided exercise, there's also an isometric contraction happening on the other side as one side of your body moves.

A strong and well-toned trapezius muscle serves a practical purpose by providing support to your neck. It helps prevent your head from slumping forward and allows you to maintain an upright posture. This exercise can be especially beneficial for individuals who spend long hours working at a desk in an office setting.
